Case Notes
Here is a wonderful 7-year-old girl who underwent incisionless otoplasty to correct prominent ears. Her ears had not yet been a target for bullying but she was concerned about this possibility as she got older. Mom had tried to hide her ears with hair down, but still the ears would show through most styles, especially during gymnastics or athletic activities.
The before and after images show a significant improvement in the positioning and symmetry of her ears, resulting in a more balanced and natural appearance. Because of her young age, her surgery was done under general anesthesia by Dr. Carniol. The ears were carefully sculpted to achieve a beautiful outcome. Her recovery was quite quick and she did beautifully. She had to remain out of sports for a few weeks initially but then was able to resume all activities. Her parents were so happy with the results. During one of her postoperative visits, the parents showed off a photo of her at a recent sports event! This case highlights our commitment to providing tailored and compassionate care for our younger patients, ensuring their comfort and confidence in their appearance.
Otoplasty (incisionless otoplasty in particular aka ear pinning) is a particular specialty of Carniol Plastic Surgery.
