Drs. Paul and Eric Carniol are excited to offer PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy to patients! PRP offers patients a natural treatment to stop hair loss, stimulate collagen, and restore tone to the skin. (You may have heard of PRP treatment for the face being called “The Vampire Facelift.”)
PRP is a non-surgical treatment done right in the office. Each of us has our own growth factors. PRP is a process in which your own growth factors are extracted from a small blood sample and placed into your scalp or face, depending on the specific treatment. With these treatments, a high-concentration of your own growth factors are placed where you need it most.
First, blood is drawn using a very small needle placed in the arm. The blood is then spun to separate out the red and white blood cells, leaving the plasma and platelets. The plasma and platelets are then activated so the growth factors are released after they are injected. Drs. Carniol uses a PRP system that stabilizes the platelets and growth factors, keeping them at a high concentration right in the area being treated.
This new technology has changed and improved the approach to hair loss in women and men. For hair loss, a few treatments can revitalize the scalp and allow for thicker, fuller hair.
This treatment can also be used for skin rejuvenation. When placed into the face it can rejuvenate the appearance of the skin and reduce wrinkles.
